CEU - Instilling Hope: Suicide Intervention & Prevention

This 3-hour course will take a deeper look into suicide prevention, post-vention, early intervention, and protective factors. Suicide impacts youth and families of all backgrounds. Suicide continues to impact Nebraska communities at concerning rates. We will discuss the data to have a better understanding of the need for more education and training around prevention and early intervention. It is extremely important for everyone to know, if and when warning signs are identified, what we can do, where we can connect for the appropriate help, how we promote help-seeking behaviors, and how we follow up to ensure our youth are healthy and well. This course will cover all of these things and provide each participant more information on important topics and concerns related to suicide, and how they can be most effective in saving a life from suicide.

Participants will learn local, state, and national data on suicide, learn their role in suicide prevention, as well as the role they can encourage others to play, learn warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors of suicide, obtain appropriate language and tools to break down stigma around mental health and suicide, create a toolkit of a variety of calming tools and community resources, and hear from a parent who lost a youth to suicide in order to better understand the need for prevention work with all youth.
