"Blowing Smoke": The Impact of Marijuana Legalization on Youth and Communities - SCIP Spring Conference
The SCIP Spring Conference is scheduled for March 25th, 2023!
About the Presenters:
Robert Hayes is the Western Region Project Manager for the Drug Evaluation Classification Program and employed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. In 2022, Robert retired as a Patrol Lieutenant with the Albany Police Department after 32 years in law enforcement. Robert is currently a Drug recognition Expert, Drug Recognition Expert Instructor, Standard Field Sobriety Test Instructor, and a crash reconstructionist. He also teaches at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (Oregon Police Academy), as a part-time instructor. Robert Hayes will provide lessons learned from Oregon and other states that have legalized marijuana, and the impact legalization has had on Youth Prevention efforts in those states.
Following Robert Hayes' presentation, a panel will be held discussing marijuana legalization and its impact on our schools and the community. Additionally, they will discuss possible community strategies for prevention. Panelists will include local and regional stakeholders in the community, and be facilitated by Sandy Morrissey of Region V Systems.
'***The cost for the conference is $55 for SCIP affiliated schools and agencies and $65 for non-SCIP affiliated schools and agencies. Pre-registration is required. The deadline for registration is March 18, 2024.
