X-WR-CALDESC:SCIP provides a systematic approach for schools and communitie
 s to respond to high-risk student behaviors.  SCIP demonstrates to student
 s that they are supported in seeking a healthy\, productive lifestyle.  \n
 \nSCIP facilitates partnerships with schools and community agencies\, iden
 tifying resources available to address problems related to mental health i
 ssues\, student abuse of alcohol or other drugs\, and other behavioral con
 cerns.\n\nStudents are referred to the SCIP Team by teachers\, parents\, p
 eers and other community members.  The SCIP Team consists of school repres
 entatives trained to identify risk-factors\, intervene and assist\, connec
 t with community agencies\, and provide support for students and their fam
 ilies. \n\nSCIP partners with community behavioral health agencies who  pr
 ovide the initial screening free of charge to students\, removing one of t
 he    biggest barriers families encounter when  accessing  services. \n\nT
 his process helps students and families see that there is a caring\, suppo
 rtive attitude within the school and their community.
